Transcription: The cardiovascular system transports nutrients, wastes and gases to and from the body's cells. The system is composed of the heart and a complex network of blood vessels. Arteries carry blood away from the heart and branch out many times, eventually forming capillaries, which are tiny vessels the diameter of a single red blood cell. Nutrients from the blood and wastes from the body's cells are exchanged through the capillary walls. Capillary blood then collects into veins that carries the blood back to the heart.
